Under the administrative direction of the Director of Institutional Research and College Data Officer, the Information Analyst will research, prepare, and organize data and information needed for compliance, decision making, program planning, program review, organizational effectiveness, processes for the College, as well as for meeting state and federal reporting requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides project management and oversight for state and federal compliance reporting, including overseeing the development, implementation, monitoring, documentation and workflow of the reporting; training staff on the reporting requirements and any changes; and ensuring accurate, complete reporting of all components within the required timelines/deadlines

Ensures completion and submission of required State and Federal Reports, including but not limited to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), Perkins Vocational Act, The Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI), State of Michigan Workforce/Employment Agency, and Michigan Talent Connect

Serves as Report Coordinator for the college relative to all compliance reporting requests, including but not limited to state reports and the Keyholder for federal reports

Reviews state and federal data reporting requirements annually and provides information and training to other appropriate staff in a timely manner

Reviews and applies industry recognized workforce data, trends, employment projections and economic conditions, with special attention on the role of community college in preparation for these careers and new and/or revised programming for State of Michigan and other third-party entities

Performs all activities related to environmental scanning, with special attention to potential community college new programming to meet student, community, workforce and employer needs and demands, as well as potential changes in existing programming that are aligned to changing state, workforce and employer demands (e.g., program improvement)

Provides summary and analysis of the information and written and oral reports in an easy to understand format for the end user

Provides industry and occupational labor market information, projections and other statistically proven data for program implementation, improvement, and review, using State of Michigan labor market data and data from other industry recognized third parties

Supports departmental and institutional efforts related to data governance

Serves on college-wide teams or committees as appropriate

Establishes and maintains cooperative and collaborative working relationships with other analysts in the Institutional Research department, college, community, and agency partners

Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Credentials
-
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, information systems, information management, computer science, education, social science, economics, business, or related field required
-
Master’s degree preferred
-
National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preferred
Work Experience
-
At least two years of experience in data and reporting required. Higher education setting or workforce development setting preferred
-
Work experience must show the gathering and merging of data from various sources; tabulating or classifying data into prescribed formats, forms, or reports; and use of computers to retrieve, tabulate, and report
-
Work experience must demonstrate the ability to produce quality work according to established procedures and within timelines in a multiple project setting

Experience in the technical and analytical aspects of research including research purpose, research design, methodology, evaluation, analytical tools, statistical standards, and reporting that include best practices in data disaggregation to highlight gaps for GRCC stakeholder data-informed decision-making

Experience with Microsoft Office applications, and database management

Identifies process improvement changes and collaborates with other analysts on planning and implementation

Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals in a team environment

Experience with data systems, including student information systems preferred
