Body

Provides independent management of campus facilities and grounds, systems, and staff in cooperation with department leadership, operations and maintenance/grounds staff.  Manages preventive/deferred maintenance, capital and infrastructure improvements, utilities, and grounds maintenance projects.  Manages construction managers, architects, contractors and subcontractors on assigned projects. Coordinates with external vendors, skilled trades, and college personnel to improve learning environments on campus.  Researches, organizes, and assesses complex data, including budget development, schedules/deadlines, and scope delineation, to identify strategic planning requirements and resources necessary to achieve successful completed projects. Capture and archive departmental performance to monitor and assure continued improvement and benchmark results with other institutions.  Provides broad and deep technology skillset across different platforms including Revit/BIM/AutoCAD; Microsoft office and project; computerized maintenance management software, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to develop, administer and independently interpret broad complex technical and administrative guidelines ranging from architectural prints to State and Federal guidelines for facility renovations 

  • Communicate complex data and information through presentations and correspondence both written and orally to internal and external departments, contractors, architects, construction managers, City and State agencies

  • Provide independent management and supervision to college facility bond/capital outlay projects, new construction, renovations and internal facility projects ranging from $1,000 to exceeding $1,000,000

  • Manage, assess and evaluate architects, construction managers, contractors and fiscal resources on capital outlay, bond and renovation projects

  • Develops and maintains cost estimates and budget resources for alignment with strategic planning requirements 

  • Supervise, evaluate and manage external architects, construction managers, and contractors on college improvement projects.  Validates and assesses work completion then certifies payment and the commitment of college funds to architects and contractors after quality standards are met

  • Responsible for the coordination of space planning, workspace reconfigurations, ergonomic requests, and departmental moves

  • Effects furniture improvements and installs, removals, and modifications with vendors and college personnel

  • Maintain and update interior and exterior signage, and wayfinding throughout campus

  • Write and solicit requests for proposals (RFPs) for campus improvement projects, professional design and building services, asset procurement, etc.

  • Responsible for the certification of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to ensure projects and renovations are correctly developed and annotated to the college’s master print set

  • Develop and maintain reports for work orders, deferred maintenance, and capital outlay projects

  • Monitor department performance through peer industry benchmarks and metrics 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules 

  • Collaborate with college peers to develop policies and standards for the department

  • Serve skilled trades and building managers to aid them to be successful with daily/ongoing operation and maintenance needs

  • Develop and maintain departmental documents (roof condition index, DM reporting, campus infrastructure, etc.)

  • Engage and maintain working relationships with contractors, vendors, and customers

  • Store and archive closeout documents from completed construction projects

  • Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Credentials

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design or Business is required

  • APPA CEFP certification or advancement towards CEFP certification preferred

  • National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC) preferred, but not required

Work Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years progressive leadership responsibility in Educational Facilities Management 

  • Analytical and results oriented with demonstrated strong decisions making/problem solving skills

  • Proficient with CAD, BIM, word processing, spreadsheets, computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and Microsoft Project

  • Project management experience

Working Conditions

  • Work in an office environment 50% of the time

  • Must be able to walk frequently throughout campus buildings while executing and overseeing multiple projects
