The Director of Curriculum Development & Assessment supports the Dean of Instructional Support in the administration of GRCC’s curriculum development and learning outcomes assessment processes. This position works closely with the Deans’ Offices, Department Heads/Program Directors, and faculty in the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Workforce Development, and Student Success and Retention. The Director of Curriculum Development & Assessment works collaboratively within the Instructional Support unit and among various academic and student affairs departments to provide relevant support and knowledge to faculty and staff across the College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide process support, technical assistance, and consultation to Department Heads/Program Directors, faculty, and academic administration, as appropriate, for the College’s credit and non-credit programs pertaining to the following: curriculum development, learning outcomes assessment, and program and course reviews and revisions

  • Support GRCC faculty in the design, development, review, and revision of new and existing curriculum

  • Perform technical reviews of curriculum proposals and ensure that they are complete as part of the annual curriculum development cycle

  • In consultation with Instructional Support staff, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the curriculum development processes and reporting mechanisms to meet the needs of the College

  • Assist with reviewing and maintaining the College’s curriculum database.

  • Provide support in the maintenance of systems used to build and track curricular work in cooperation with Instructional Support staff

  • Collaborate with Instructional Support staff and appropriate bodies (relevant Academic Governing Council teams or similar committees), to develop instructional guidelines and resource materials related to  curriculum development, program review, and learning outcomes assessment. Coordinate with Instructional Support Staff, Deans’ Offices, and/or Center for Teaching Excellence to provide professional development training to support understanding and routine completion of these processes

  • In consultation with Deans’ Offices, Institutional Research, and IS staff, coordinate annual Academic Program and Co-Curricular Program Review processes, including providing technical support for learning outcomes assessment

  • Collaborate with the Dean of Instructional Support and appropriate personnel, including faculty and Institutional Research staff, to assist with data analysis regarding barriers to student achievement of learning outcomes. Support faculty and staff in using this information for continuous improvement

  • In consultation with the Dean of Instructional Support, ensure GRCC’s curriculum development processes fulfill the expectations of the Higher Learning Commission and all other program accrediting bodies

  • In consultation with the Dean of Instructional Support and Deans’ Offices, evaluate the review/assessment measures in place for curriculum to ensure that GRCC’s course and program offerings are meeting intended outcomes and necessary accreditation requirements

  • Assist Deans and Department Heads/Program Directors, as requested, with accreditation standards for all academic programs

  • Follow established procedures related to environmental scanning in assisting with new program proposals, facilitating curriculum review, and collaborating with appropriate personnel to discontinue programs, as appropriate

  • Maintain accurate data in curriculum development and learning outcomes assessment documents, spreadsheets, databases, and websites

  • Research and analyze trends and initiatives pertaining to curriculum development and learning outcomes assessment. Communicate analysis and research findings to the Dean of Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with the Dean of Instructional Support and IS staff to administer annual Curriculum Processes and Program Review surveys

  • Collaborate, as requested, with the Institutional Research Office on reporting related to curriculum development and assessment

  • Serve as an Instructional Support Web Content editor

  • Communicate regularly with and provide updates to the Dean of Instructional Support

  • Represent the curriculum development and learning outcomes assessment role on committees and teams as directed by the Dean of Instructional Support

  • Carry out assigned duties in a collaborative, team-oriented manner

  • Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Credentials

  • Master’s degree required

  • National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preferred

Work Experience

  • Three to five years college/university employment experience required

  • Community college experience in a faculty, curriculum, or other associated role preferred
