Under the direction of the Director of IT Customer Support , the Senior Systems Administrator - Endpoint Management role is focused on setting, supporting and leading strategic initiatives that impact endpoint and software configuration systems (e.g., Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM/SCCM), Jamf Pro, and Microsoft Intune). The Senior Systems Administrator will lead and work closely with partner teams in Information Technology to identify, plan, deploy, support, and secure additional systems to meet the growing and ever-changing needs of the College.
The Senior Systems Administrator - Endpoint Management role is responsible for leading packaging initiatives, managing the College’s operating systems, architecting customer-centric solutions, and building the College’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Endpoint administrators are expected to provide training to both technical and non-technical staff as it relates to systems under their administration. The Senior Systems Administrator - Endpoint Management role serves as the final tier of support for hardware and software issues at the College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Software Management
-
Ensure adherence to institutional standards for software packaging and distribution

Plan annual academic and routine operational software deployments
-
Responsible for the administration of the College’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB)

Develop departmental change management and release management procedures as it relates to software and script distribution
-
Maintain, implement, and support licensing utilities, servers, and tools for software
-
Collaborate with asset management team to document and track software licenses
-
Manage the script and software repositories and supporting lifecycles (e.g., versioning, Git)
Endpoint Administration
-
Work effectively with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, identify, and resolve technical issues
-
Report identified problematic trends to IT leadership, recommend solutions and workarounds
-
Author technical specifications for purchasing end user computing resources
-
Design and implement critical end user computing security solutions under the guidance of the Information Security office, ensuring security compliance for all endpoints
-
Provide performance statistics and reports
-
Design and administer endpoint management solutions including group policy, mobile device management, configuration baselines, provisioning profiles, endpoint protection, etc.
Systems Administration
-
Lead administration of essential systems such as MCM, Windows Update for Business, Jamf Pro, Licensing Servers, Microsoft KMS, NAPA TRACS, axiUm Ascend, and other critical systems

Provide training to staff on managed systems

Research emergent technologies and filing recommendations to support College operations

Administer and implement of cloud-hosted end user computing systems such as Microsoft 365

Collaborate across teams to ensure the stability, functionality, and viability of both cloud-hosted and on-premise systems

Responsible for certificate and token lifecycle management for systems under Endpoint Management purview
Imaging / Operating System Deployment (OSD) / Mobile Device Management

Establish and enforce image operating system deployment task sequence standards
-
Define driver deployment standards and ensure compliance with releases
-
Approve and deploy images using Windows Deployment Services (WDS, Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE), Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE), and Apple automated enrollment
-
Administer Apple Automated Enrollment resources (e.g.: Apple School Manager)
Other

Responsible for ensuring all processes are accurately and thoroughly documented in the service management knowledge repository

Supervise student and/or contingent employees, handling hiring, direction, evaluation, and scheduling
-
Collaborate with cross-functional campus teams to identify and implement new technology initiatives proactively
-
Execute and support systems analysis work; meeting with users to determine requirements, providing direction, recommendations, and documentation

Ability to analyze business requirements and understand the structure, policies, and operations to recommend technical solutions that enable the achievement of organizational goals

Liaise with vendors, as necessary, to meet essential job functions

Responsible for supporting and providing business intelligence leveraging common reporting technology

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Credentials
-
Bachelor's degree (required) from an accredited college or university with preferred concentration in Computer Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Two or more Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Microsoft 365 - Enterprise Administrator Expert, Jamf Certified Tech, or Apple Certified IT Professional
Work Experience
-
Minimum 3 years experience with enterprise configuration management/package deployment tools such as Microsoft Intune, Jamf Pro, or Apple Business/School Manager required

Minimum 3 years experience architecting, administering, and developing large-scale and complex enterprise systems preferred
-
Minimum of 6 years experience in Information Technology required

Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and documentation
-
Preferred previous experience in higher education
Skills

Expert knowledge in supporting macOS and Windows
-
Expert knowledge in device and mobile device management
-
Advanced knowledge in administering large-scale enterprise systems

Experience in using common reporting tools (SQL, WMI Query Language (WQL), PowerBI, etc.)

Experience with installer technologies and methodologies (e.g., MSIX, Application Virtualization, Package Management)

Excellent written communication skills are necessary to provide accurate technical documentation
