The Treasury Management Accountant will ensure the efficient management of the college’s bank accounts. Their primary duty will be to perform the College’s bank reconciliations each month, which involves a high volume of transactions, while maintaining the accounting and internal controls system for the cash flow process. The individual will also be involved with various high-level analytical projects, such as tracking investments and analyzing budget data and will work closely with the staff accountant as new duties arise. They will need to have a strong accounting background to maintain general ledger accounts and will have opportunities to cross-train across the Accounting & Finance Department. Because of the magnitude of the risk involved, the position requires a strong level of independent responsibility to handle the stewardship of the college’s cash flow. They must be capable of consistently handling steady, detailed work, but also be proactive with perceived issues, juggling multiple priorities and showing proficiency in communicating with both internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations

  • Act as primary contact for bank and merchant services

  • Understand and utilize various bank and merchant services account systems

  • Prepare and post complex investment entries in General Ledger

  • Maintain and manage bank and investment reports

  • Prepare and post journal entries as needed for relevant issues

  • Maintain and manage detailed records of transactions

  • Maintain accounting and internal controls for the cash flow process

  • Monitor, analyze, and prepare budgets for cash flow

  • Perform internal audits of campus departments

  • Prepare monthly statements for the Board of Trustees

  • Prepare schedules and related analysis for the annual external audit

  • Assist supervisor with analysis and maintenance of budget accounts

  • Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

  • Performs other related duties as assigned


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience required

  • Treasury experience highly preferred

  • Accounting experience within nonprofit and education preferred

Skills

  • Proficient in a Windows environment

  • Ability to use MS Excel extensively

  • Working knowledge of the Campus Wide Information System 

  • Demonstrated ability with accounting, internet, spreadsheet, and MS Word

  • Successful experience working with diverse populations
