ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Establish, maintain and grow client relationships with area businesses and organizations to serve the West Michigan business community 

  • Increase sales revenue from customized business training

  • Increase the number of companies and organizations working with GRCC on workforce development and training

  • Collect and evaluate data to ensure student success and customer satisfaction with training

  • Supervise, hire and evaluate customized training staff and trainers

  • Participate in the non-credit leadership team and assist in setting direction for non-credit programs as well as new program development

  • Monitor project expenditures for programs and provide interim status reports on all assigned work

  • Responsible for Michigan New Job Training Projects: recruiting potential projects; working with legal representations on contracts; monitoring and approving project expenditures; ensuring compliance with State regulations; and providing reporting on project status

  • Collaborate with internal and external constituents, i.e., College departments, local businesses, economic developers, other colleges to consolidate resources or enhance program design/alignment

  • Initiate and participate in grant applications or responses to RFPs to enhance funding for customized training partners or programs in the School of Workforce Development

  • There is the opportunity for some schedule flexibility to meet work needs.  Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

  • Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Educational Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Training and Development  or a related field required.  Master’s degree preferred

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation to travel to partner sites for coordinating activities and attending meetings

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of successful experience working in training, assessment, workforce development, coordinating training

  • Proven project management experience

  • Experience in supervising staff and management skills necessary to operate a self-funded entity

  • Experience with computer and technology skills including:  Microsoft Office, campus wide information systems, and internet

Skills

  • Proven project management, administrative, and interpersonal skills

  • Proven communication and organizational skills that relate to customer/employee management

  • Knowledge and understanding of higher education organizational structures, policies and procedures

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. or more and stand for 30-45 minutes at a time

Mental Demands

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse educational and community setting

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and to effectively work as a member of a team

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written

Working Conditions

  • GRCC will comply with any mandated health and safety requirements. Compliance information is available on our policies website

  • Some schedule flexibility is needed to attend events or activities.  Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours 80% of the time. There is the opportunity for some schedule flexibility to meet work needs
