The Assistant Director of Student Life is a member of the Center for Student Life and Leadership team. The center serves the College and students in several ways, including front desk services/sales (RaiderCards, bus passes, movie tickets, etc.), coordinating all major student events and student organizations on campus, oversight of the food pantry and dining services, and enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct. The assistant director holds responsibilities in each of these areas, acting as a generalist in our department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Serve as the co-advisor for the Student Government, in planning and organizing their meetings, evaluating and implementing change based on input from the GRCC student body, and in managing the Student Activities fee budget.
- Maintain general operational knowledge of all aspects of student life leadership programming and resources.
- Manage the student organization recognition process and provide Raider Connect training to leaders of new student clubs/organizations.
- Manage the development and production of the Student Organization Manual.
- Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of Raider Connect functions, management of the Student Life Umbrella, providing on-going training for student leaders and marketing the use of the tool to all students.
- Coordinate annual student leadership awards nomination and selection process and provide oversight and leadership to the planning of the awards banquet.
- Work with the Admissions and New Student Orientation staff to co-coordinate and implement the annual Student Block Party, a program designed to improve the success and retention of new students, including management of department involvement, entertainment, marketing and logistics.
- Assist with planning and managing Grad Fest.
- Inform student organizations and leadership participants of College policies and make appropriate referrals to College departments as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of current policies and procedures that impact departmental operations and student engagement.
- Coordinate and facilitate training events and experiences for student leaders (and advisors) which help develop leadership skills and abilities.
- Assist with Student Life services including duties related to opening, closing and managing the office.
- Participate in the development of marketing strategies to promote campus activities and services to maximize student involvement.
- Persons in this role are identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSA's will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act.
- Regular attendance during normal scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.
- Evening and weekend hours are required and scheduled in advance for College events and student programming.
- Serve as back up for Director of Student Life as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or 3 years work experience in a related field preferred.
- National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) preferred.
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in student life and/or student service, including program and event coordination.
- Student organization/government advising experience preferred.
