Under the direction of the Associate Director of Facilities - Operations, the Assistant Parking Ramp Service Employee is responsible for the cleanliness of Ramps A, B, C, ATC, Cook Hall, & College Park Plaza parking ramps as well as the coordination of routine ramp maintenance. This position is responsible for assisting the parking ramp service employee in ensuring the parking ramps are maintained in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness and safety. The assistant will also be responsible for assisting with snow removal during the winter season, or as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, layout, and organize work with minimum supervision
- Assist with the coordinate own and others’ work between ramp cleaning and the requisition of maintenance, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry departments, administration, and outside vendors
- Maintain knowledge of all cleaning activities within the assigned ramps.
- Ability to learn to operate maintenance machinery, such as ramp industrial sweeper, gas powered power washers and Kubota utility vehicles for snow removal
- Maintain and/or assist in the direction of all ramp projects on multiple campuses
- Knowledge of all safety and security procedures affecting his/her assigned ramps
- Inspect and monitor campus ramps to ensure proper maintenance is performed
- Remove graffiti with a sandblasting machine, chemical wash, etc.
- Remedy vandalism
- Clean transient population waste, including human waste and urine on a daily basis
- Clean elevator stations and cars on a daily basis
- Clean windows and stair rails on a daily basis
- Empty all ramp trash and recycle containers on a daily basis
- Assist grounds staff as directed
- Utilize emergency shut offs for electrical, gas and water, with training
- Cleaning of carpet and upholstery within ramps
- Cleaning of offices, restrooms, light fixtures and cement stairwells
- Order supplies and cleaning products
- Removal of ice and snow using shovels, snow blowers, and Kubota utility vehicle
- Replacing light bulbs, including fluorescent tubes, upon training completion
- Unclogging of toilets and sinks within ramps
- Opening and security of facilities as necessary and directed
- Identify and determine chemicals, and cleaning supplies for different surfaces
- Provide maintenance and security on all ramp equipment
- Use of pallet jack, scissors lift
- Overtime may be assigned when weather conditions dictate campus snow plowing throughout the winter season, and as needed
- Regular in person attendance during normally scheduled hours is required. Being present is essential for serving customers and performing the essential functions of this position.
- Submit timesheets and learn to submit work order requests
- Opening and/closing of ramps when needed

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Credentials
- High school degree or GED diploma required
Work Experience
- Prior use with ramp cleaning equipment preferred
- Training on the job available with limited to no commercial cleaning experience
- Commercial cleaning experience in an educational environment preferred
Skills
- Must be able to use a variety of carpet extractors. Must be able to use 4’; 6’; 8’; and 10’ ladders. Must be able to use and have knowledge of all applicable cleaning chemicals and dispensing systems, gas power sprayers, all general use custodial equipment such as mops, buckets, brooms, dusters, etc., operate snow blowers, use salt spreaders, use man lifts and pallet jacks, do light electrical and plumbing work using hand tools (pliers, screwdrivers, plungers, etc.), and be able to drive a vehicle.
- Maintain good attendance and be punctual when arriving to and leaving work
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing via email. Have the ability to provide customer service to faculty, staff, students and the general public
- Be able to work independently
- Must have the ability to operate a Kubota for snow plowing
- Must be able to communicate with homeless in a professional manner and able to connect with GRCC police or GRPD when needed
Physical Demands
- Be able to lift 50 pounds
- Be able to work outdoors, regardless of the temperature, in all types of weather
- Must be punctual and have good attendance record

- Ability to communicate professionally with the population that frequent the ramps at night
- The ability to provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff, students and the general public
- The ability to work with a variety of college staff personnel
