Managing Blackboard Notifications

Question

How do I manage the notifications I receive in Blackboard?

Answer

There are four different types of notifications in Blackboard.  To access notification settings, reference the instructions below.

1. Log in to Blackboard.
2. Click your name from the navigation menu to the left. 
3. In the System Settings section, locate Global Notification Settings. 
4. Click the desired notification type and a side panel will appear on the right.  the content you wish to receive notifications on. The notification types are defined below. 
   • Stream notifications
     • Alerts or updates delivered through the user’s activity stream within Blackboard.  This is the first page that is display after logging in. 
     • If you have the Blackboard App installed on your mobile device, it turns on all course notifications by default. If you also turn on SMS notifications, you will receive a notification twice unless you change the notifications settings for the app on your phone. 
   • Email notifications
     • Notifications that can be delivered to your GRCC email.  You can choose to Email me right away or Email me once a day. 
   • SMS notifications
     • Notifications that can be delivered via text message on a mobile device. 
   • Push notifications
     • Notifications that can be delivered through the Blackboard mobile app.
