Question
How do I print an exam in Respondus 4.0?

Answer
You can print/export a copy of any exam you have created or imported into Respondus. This is useful for collaborating on tests with other colleagues, if you want to give a paper exam, and/or for backup purposes.

Note: If an exam has images they will need to be removed in Blackboard. Respondus 4.0 is unable to handle the image file.
Step 1: Verify Software is Installed
- Locate Respondus 4.0 on your desktop. If you do not see it, follow the instructions below. Otherwise, proceed to Step 2.
- Once the software is finished installing, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Verify Blackboard Server is Configured
- Launch Respondus 4.0.
- If opening software for the first time, choose Blackboard from the dropdown menu on the Choose LMS Personality window and click OK.
- Click Retrieval + Reports from the menu at the top.
- Click Retrieve Questions.
- On the Retrieve Question Wizard window, click the dropdown menu next to the Blackboard Server.
- If you see a server name listed followed by PSS, proceed to Step 3. Otherwise, continue with the next step.
- From the dropdown menu, click - add new server -
- Select Yes, check for preconfigured server settings.
- Enter the following information:
- Name of server. Example, "My Bb Courses."
- Leave Save my User Name and Password on this computer unchecked.
- Select Run connection test and click Next.
- Click OK when prompted to log into Blackboard using a browser window.
- Enter your MyGRCC username and passphrase (password).
- Once logged into Blackboard, click Continue After Login at the top right corner of the screen.
- Click OK on the login process complete window.
- On the Preconfigured Server Setting Wizard, wait for connection to process. Once it shows Connection Test: Completed Successfully at the bottom of the status window, click Next.
- Sometimes it can take up to 1 minute for the connection to be established.
- Click Finish.
Step 3: Connect to Server and Retrieve Questions
- Locate the Blackboard Server from the dropdown menu.
- Click Next.
- Click OK when prompted to log into Blackboard user a browser window.
- Enter your MyGRCC username and passphrase.
- Once logged into Blackboard, click Continue After Login at the top right corner of the screen.
- Click OK on the login process complete window.
- Do not click Next on the screen. Wait for system to automatically redirect to the next window.
- Sometimes it can take up to 1 minute for the connection to be established.
- On the Retrieve Questions Wizard window, choose the desired course at the top from the dropdown menu.
- Select Exam and choose from the list of exams in the dropdown menu.
- Enter the name for the new file. Example, "Final Exam."
- Click Next.
- Wait for the process to complete. Once the File Saved dialogue box appears, click OK.
- Click Finish.
Step 4: Print/Export Exams
- On your desktop, click the Respondus Projects folder.
- Click the folder of the file name given for the exam in Step 3.
- Click the file name (Respondus file) to open.
- With the exam open, click Preview + Publish at the top of the page.
- Click Print Options.
- At the bottom, choose from the following options:
- Click Save to File to export the exam as a Word document.
- Click Send to Printer to print the exam.
- Repeat Steps 3 and 4 if additional exams need to be retrieved and printed.
