Question
A user is requesting to add external users to a Google Group, but is unable to add them as they are outside of the organization.
Environment
Information
Google Group membership is typically for GRCC employees only. Groups are not intended to be used as Listserv where external users are added to the group.
Answer
IT Security needs to review and approve any groups where external users are to be added. Since external users are not automatically removed when they no longer need access—unlike GRCC employees—group managers must complete training to understand their responsibility for managing external access.
Please submit a ticket or contact IT Support at itsupport@grcc.edu or 616-234-4357. If it’s regarding the creation of a new Google Group, be sure to include information that you wish to be able to add external users to it.
