Method 1: File Explorer

  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. Click This PC from the menu on the left.
  3. Locate the Windows (C:) drive.
    • If the icon shows a lock symbol, BitLocker is active and your computer is encrypted.
    • Note: The lock icon may appear "unlocked" while you are actively logged in and using the computer, but the presence of the icon indicates encryption is enabled.

Method 2: Control Panel

  1. Click the Start Menu.
  2. Type Manage BitLocker.
  3. Select Manage BitLocker from the results.
    • If the page states Windows (C:) BitLocker on, your machine is encrypted.
