How do I play a DVD from a multimedia station inside of a classroom?

There are 2 ways to play a DVD, from the computer, or from the DVD player in the multimedia rack.

 

Resolution

From the DVD player

  1. Power on the DVD player from the podium or rack.
  2. Press the Display ON button on the control panel for the podium or rack.
  3. Press the DVD button on the control panel.
  4. Use the DVD remote to navigate, play, pause, etc...
    • The remote should be located in the rack drawer.

 

From the computer

  1. Power on the computer from the podium or rack.
  2. Press the Display ON button on the control panel for the podium or rack.
  3. Press the PC button on the control panel.
  4. Insert the DVD into the computer, if there is actually a disc drive slot in the computer
    • The disc tray should have an eject button  on or near it 
  5. The DVD should begin playback automatically using VLC media player
  • If prompted to choose what to do with the disk, select Play Using VLC
  • If the computer does not start the DVD playback automatically, locate the VLC Media Player application on the desktop and double-click it.
    1. Select Media from the top menu
    2. Select Open Disc...
    3. Choose your DVD from the drop-down menu labeled Disc Device
