Issue
The device does not have enough USB ports to accommodate all required peripherals, such as a mouse, keyboard, webcam, or external drive.
Resolution
To resolve this, you can use a USB Port Hub. A USB port hub is a small adapter that plugs into a single port on your computer and provides several additional USB ports (typically 3–7), effectively expanding your device's connectivity.
How to Request a Hub
If you are a staff or faculty member using a college-issued device, you can request a USB hub through the IT Service Catalog:
Tips for Use
- Power-Heavy Devices: If you are connecting multiple high-power devices (like external hard drives), ensure the hub is capable of handling the data load.
- Placement: Avoid "daisy-chaining" hubs (plugging one hub into another), as this can lead to connection instability or power failure for your peripherals.
