Read Receipts in Gmail

Question

Can I tell if someone has read or opened my email in Gmail?

Information

A read request is sent to every recipient in the To and Cc fields, but not to recipients in the Bcc field, mailing lists, or aliases.

Answer

1. In Gmail, compose your message.
2. At the bottom of the Compose window, click More  > Request read receipt
3. Click Send.
   • You’ll get a notification email when your message is opened
