How do I setup rules that filter my mail into specific folders?

You can manage your incoming mail using filters to send email to a label (folder), or archive, delete, star, or automatically forward your mail.
- Open Gmail
- Click the Show search options (filter) icon located in the search bar.
- Enter your filter criteria.
- Note: If you do not want chat messages to be included, be sure to check the Don't include chats option.
- Click Search to verify the contents are the desired items to filter.
- Click Create filter.
- To automatically move email fitting your filter criteria out of your inbox, check Skip the Inbox (Archive it).
- To apply a label, check Apply the label, then click an existing label or create a new one.
- To apply the filter to all existing emails, click Also apply filter to matching conversations.
- Click Create filter.
- The new label appears in the left sidebar.
