Unable to Register in Math Course after Successfully Taking Prerequisite

Courses above MA 98 are only available for students that have either passed the ALEKS placement exam or have successfully completed MA 98 within the past 5 years.

Issue

Error message received in the Online Center when the student tries to enroll in a math course above MA 98 due to an unfulfilled prerequisite, although the student has successfully passed MA 98.

Resolution

If the student has taken this course more than 1 year prior, the credits may no longer apply and the student will have to take the ALEKS placement exam found through the Math Placement link in the Online Center. Credits from an ALEKS score are good for 18 months. If it is a Calculus 2 class or higher then the Math department will review on a case by case basis. This is due to the ALEKS placement not being able to test on Calculus 2 and above.
