Unable to Add Content in Blackboard - Quota Exceeded

Issue

When adding content to Blackboard an error is coming up that says one of the following:

  • Adding the selected content to the specified folder causes the folder to exceed its quota.
  • Failed to submit Assignment. Please try again.
  • An error occurred while importing course content, the importing package size exceeds folder disk quota by ____ bytes

Environment

  • Blackboard

Information

Each course has a size limit of 500MB.

Cause Check

  • Verify current quota usage
    1. Click My Content from the left side menu under Course Management
    2. Click All Courses Content
    3. Click on the chevron next to the desired course name and select Edit Settings
    4. Scroll down to Quota Information

Resolution

Delete any unnecessary Files

  1. Click on My Content under Course Management from the left hand side
  2. Click on The Course ID
  3. This will show you all the files that are contained within the course, their file type as well as file name. There may be several pages worth of content. Look through them and anything that has a duplicate name is a file that is listed twice within the course.
  4. Select any content by checking the box next to it and then click delete from the menu at the top of the page.
