Blackboard SMS Notifications

Question

How can I receive text based SMS notifications for Blackboard on my mobile phone.

Information 

Blackboard has a notification tool where you can edit the type of course content you want to be notified on.  You can change how notifications are received through email, SMS, and Phone (Text to Voice). 

 

Answer 

 

Add Mobile Phone Number 

  1. Log into the MyGRCC portal
  2. Click the Blackboard app from the My Apps page
  3. In the upper right corner, click where your name is displayed to bring up the Global Navigation Menu
  4. Click Settings
  5. Click Personal Information
  6. Click Edit Personal Information
  7. Scroll down to OTHER INFORMATION 
  8. Under Mobile Phone, add your number including the area code. 
  9. Click Submit

 

Edit Notifications Settings 

  1. Navigate to the Blackboard Homepage
  2. Click the Notification Settings option within the Tools module  
  3. Locate the Bulk Edit Notification Settings section
  4. Click Courses I am taking
  5. Select All to include all courses, or Selected to choose individual courses
  6. Click on desired class under Items to Select
  7. Click the to add the selected items
  8. Verify that all desired courses are now under Selected Items
  9. Verify your phone number is listed.
    1. If it is not listed or incorrect, reference Add Mobile Phone Number step above. 
  10. Under SETTINGS locate the SMS column.
  11. Click the box for each notification type desired
  12. Click Submit

There can be up to a 10 minute delay before SMS notifications are received on your mobile phone.
