Camtasia Error When Opening

Issue

When a customer launches Camtasia they are presented with the following installer error message. 

Environment 

• TechSmith Camtasia 

Resolution

This issue typically occurs when the shortcut for Camtasia does not know the file location to launch the program. 

1. Confirm that you can run the application from C:\Program Files\TechSmith\Camtasia2021\. If not, uninstall/reinstall application and/or update to the newest version in the Software Center. 
   • Note the version of Camtasia and update the file path accordingly.  

If it runs from Program Files

Desktop Shortcut

1. Find the Camtasia shortcut on the Desktop
2. Right-click on the application
3. Choose Properties
4. In the Start in: section paste C:\Program Files\TechSmith\Camtasia2021\ 
5. Click Apply
6. Click OK.

Start Menu

1. Find the Camtasia shortcut on the Start Menu
2. Right-click on the application
3. Click More
4. Click Open file location 
5. Right-click on the application
6. Click Properties
7. In the Start in: section paste C:\Program Files\TechSmith\Camtasia202\ 
8. Click Apply
9. Click OK
